White Point in San Pedro is a compact stretch of coast that includes a rocky beach, landscaped bluffs, and a natural open‑space preserve, all facing the Pacific with views toward Catalina Island. The area is known more for tidepools, coastal scenery, and short walks than for wide sandy sunbathing beaches. Down at the water, White Point Beach is a mostly rocky shoreline with rich tidepools, popular for tidepooling, scuba diving, fishing, and sunset watching, with paid parking by the water and basic facilities like restrooms, showers, and picnic tables. Above the shore, the bluffs hold a small park with a playground and viewpoints, plus easy paved and hard‑packed paths that make it accessible for many visitors. Across Paseo Del Mar on the inland side of the bluffs, the 100‑plus‑acre White Point Nature Preserve protects restored coastal sage scrub and grassland with short looping trails, ocean views, and visible remains of World War II and Cold War military structures. A small nature education center in a converted military building offers exhibits on local ecology and history, tying together the story of the beach, bluffs, and preserve as a single historic and natural landscape.
